Fitchburg Back to
School Block Party
@ 2690 Research Park Dr
5pm - 8pm [activities]
8pm - 9:30pm [movie]
This block party is sponsored by a number of Fitchburg
businesses for the community to enjoy live music (Hometown
Sweethearts 6-8pm), kids activities starting at 5pm; an
appearance by Bucky Badger & UW Cheerleaders; Open Gym at
The Little Gym (6:30 - 7pm ages 3 & under; 7:15 - 7:45 ages
3-12); and finally, The LEGO Movie shown outdoors at 8pm.  
*Raffle drawing at 7:30 p.m. - funds benefit the Fitchburg Public

Sweet Corn Festival
@ Angell Park, Sun Prairie
This event features a carnival-midway complete with rides and
games, food booths, live bands, craft show, petting zoo, "kiddie
korner" with large inflatables, family entertainment and much

UW Football Family
Fun Day
@ Camp Randall
Bring the kids for a chance to meet members of the UW Football
team and Bucky Badger. The UW Spirit Squad will also be in
attendance. Admission is FREE. Event will be moved to the
McClain Center if inclement weather.
Tri 4 Schools Kids
@ Bauman Aquatic Center
This swim-bike-run event is for kids, ages 3-14 and proceeds are
divided and benefit all schools listed by participants.

@ Westland Promenade,
A variety of music throughout the day is the main attraction of this
annual event; while plenty of kids activities are sure to entertain
the whole family. Activities include horse-drawn wagon rides,
mini train rides, face painting, children's shows & more.

Africa Fest
@ Warner Park, Madison
Learn about Africa from local African immigrants through
demonstrations, songs, stories, food & more.$2 admission
adults, children 12 & under are free.

Good Neighbor Fest
@ Fireman's Park,
Carnival, live music, children's performances & entertainment,
kids run, games, food & parade at Noon on Sunday, Aug 23rd.
Parade route is University Ave from Maple St to Fireman's Park.

Celebrate South
11:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
@ Madison Labor Temple
Enjoy food, craft vendors & entertainment, including a kids tent.
UW Volleyball Fan
2:00 p.m.
UW Field House, Madison
Doors open at 2:00 p.m. for the Fan Fest. Families and children
of all ages are invited to meet the Badger players and practice
volleyball skills with the team on the court. You can walk around
the Field House for other activities, including sidewalk chalk & a
Jump Castle. Stay for the scrimmage, which begins at 3:30 p.m.

Madison Mallards
1:00 p.m.
@ Warner Park, Madison
CurdFest is hosted by the Madison Mallards, free admission.
Family-friendly activities include a petting zoo, inflatables and
kids games. Also enjoy live music, and sampling cheese curds to
help vote for the best cheese curds in Wisconsin.
Ride the Drive
@ Eastside, Madison
[Activity stops at Olbrich
Park & OB Sherry Park]
Ride the Drive-Eastside is 2.2 miles of car-free, care-free fun! We
are bringing the festival atmosphere to East Madison this year
with activities, entertainment, music and vendors in "villages"
along the route. Ride the Drive villages are stopping points that
include all kinds of family friendly activities, food, information
booths, merchandise tents, and bouncy houses. Route/Info:

Moonlight Movie

Bugs Bunny Roadrunner Movie will be showing 8:00 p.m. at
Heistand Park on Madison's east side, part of the Madison Parks
Moonlight Movie series.

Help to raise critical funds for the Badger Childhood Cancer
Network’s programs providing information, emotional support,
emergency financial aid, and transportation assistance for
families of children with cancer and blood disorders.

This list was first gathered & published in a 2010
issue of Preschool Life (now Madison with Kids).
Organically researched & built, this is the original &
most complete list you'll find of outdoor pools &
splash pads in Dane County.

Outdoor Music Concerts
Being the wife of an active musician and fan of
relaxing summer nights with music in the air, this
list was organically built because I love that events
such as Concert on the Square & many other
outdoor concerts are an enjoyable activity for
ADULTS to relax - with kids in tow! (In other words,
this is how we sneak in our adult time - bubbles &
snacks make fantastic baby sitters as kids hang out
in kid-size camp chairs or spread out on a picnic

Summer Camp Listings - New!
Whether you're needing full-time care for children
all summer long, or looking for part-day, regular or
occasional programs to provide structure and
activities for your kids while school is out, you'll find
a variety of options to meet different interests,
schedules and locations around the community.

Recurring Activities for Kids &
The list usually found here has been revised each
summer & fall for many years. Ideas you'll find
include descriptions and links to summer reading
programs, other special summer programs like
Lakeside Kids at Monona Terrace, the MMOCA Art
Cart, special movie events, and year-round science
programs taking place weekly or monthly at
