The Mad-City 'Fire on Ice' Hockey Classic is a 10-12
firefighter hockey team tournament held over a 3 day
period.  In addition to a full rink tourney, we also run a 3
vs. 3 Public Safety tournament on our studio rink.  All
proceeds go to Make-A-Wish Wisconsin and various
other charitable efforts.

Walk to Cure Arthritis

The event features a 3-mile and 1-mile course, with
arthritis information and activities for the entire family,
including a silent auction.
Purple Stride Run/Walk

The Pancreatic Cancer Network is blazing new trails in
the fight against pancreatic cancer. Join and help the
fight with this family-friendly 5K run & walk. The day will
be filled with children's activities, music, refreshments, a
ShopPurple store & more.
Tri 4 Schools Kids Triathlon

This upcoming race has sold out, but you can still head

The shy Velveteen Rabbit becomes a young boy’s

raise money to help more moms have full-term

Two routes will be available during this years walk. A
1-mile family fun walk around Olin Park or a 3-mile walk
along Capitol City Trail to Law Park and back to Olin Park

Enjoy a weekend of activities for the whole family,
including a parade at 1:30 on Sunday, art fair, folk music,
several food stands operated by many non-profit groups,
traditional dance performances, face painting & several
running races and a canoe race! Many activities take
place downtown Stoughton, as well as River Bluff School
Campuses, parks & local businesses and organizations.

Brat Fest activities include several music stages, a
carnival, a 5K & 10K Bun Run, 1K Kids Mudstard Run,
fireworks Sunday at dusk, and other family-friendly
activities. All proceeds from the event benefit the many
local organizations that staff the food tents. Food
available for purchase includes brats, hot dogs, vegan
options, sweet corn & more.

After more than one cancellation of the Spring Madison
Marathon due to extreme heat conditions, the
organization divided their marathon into a few events:
A full marathon happens in November; and the spring
events which include a half-marathon, a Twilight 5K or
10K and a Kids Race (approx .6 mile). Die-hard runners
can register to "Conquer the Capitol", running the
weekend 10K and half-marathon races, or completing
their challenge with the fall marathon as well.

The annual Monona Memorial Day Parade will kick off
on Monday at the 4400 block of Monona Drive,
beginning at 10:00 a.m. This year will be the 60th
anniversary of this outstanding parade!

The parade will travel south on Monona Dr, and west on
Owen Rd, ending at Village Lanes.

Tri 4 Schools Spring Mud Run

Tri 4 Schools is partnering with the Verona Fest for
another Spring Mud Run. Proceeds benefit school of

American Family Dream Bank
WEEKLY | YEAR-ROUND
DreamBank is a one-of-a-kind dream exploration
space on the square in Downtown Madison. The
DreamBank experience includes interactive
technology, thought-provoking exhibits, and inspiring
events, all of which are free and open to the general
public. Come by for Family Saturdays each week to
see what activities will educate & inspire your kids!

Home Depot Kids Workshop
MONTHLY | YEAR-ROUND
Drop-in 9am to Noon the 1st Saturday every month for
a FREE "how-to" clinic for kids (recommended ages 5
to 12). Real woodworking projects are often themed
around seasons & holidays. These year round
workshops are intended to encourage one-on-one
time with adults and children, teach tool safety, and
give children the sense of accomplishment.
 Note:
Home Depot (Verona Rd only) also offers the
workshop on the 3rd Saturdays - for those that missed
earlier in the month.

Kids in the Rotunda
WEEKLY | FALL/WINTER
Enjoy free performances in a relaxed, kid-friendly
environment every Saturday from the end of
September through April. Shows offered at 9:30,
11am, and 1pm (sign-language interpreted at 1pm).
The series takes place on the Rotunda Stage in the
Overture Center on State Street in downtown Madison.

Michael's Kids Club
WEEKLY
Drop-in 10am to Noon on Saturdays at your local
Michaels store, kids can make a take-home project
for $2 fee. Craft sessions begin every 30 minutes, for
ages 3 & up. Projects are often themed around
holidays and seasons. Pick up a store calendar for
the Kids Club schedule & other event.

Rocky Rococo Family Movies
THROUGHOUT WEEK | YEAR-ROUND
Rocky's Party Pizzeria's East & West show movies on
their big screen throughout the week,
daytimes/eve's/wknds (see location for times.) Movies
are rated 'G' or 'PG', it's a fun way to get out of the
house and enjoy lunch or dinner with a kid-friendly
movie in a family-friendly atmosphere.

Saturday Science at Discovery
MONTHLY | YEAR-ROUND
A monthly series that consists of free science
exploration and education programs aimed at
families and learners of all ages. These drop-in
programs are generally from 10:00 a.m. - Noon on
the 1st Saturday of the month, held at Town Center of
the Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery on the UW
Madison Campus.

Waisman Center Children's Theater
MONTHLY | FALL/WINTER
This annual series of performances and activities  
provides family-friendly entertainment one Sunday
each month from Fall through early Spring. WCCT
features a variety of performers- magicians, singers,
dancers, musical groups, "learning is fun"
educators/performers, and professional theatrical
companies.

Open Play [or "Open Gym"]
DAILY OPTIONS | YEAR-ROUND
Nearly a dozen places in & around Madison offer
their facilities for 1-2 hours, or even all day for regular
"open gym"  times throughout the week. Admission
charges vary by venue, often dependent on age, from
$4 to $8 and provide equipment to play, slide, jump;
but most importantly a kid-friendly, safe environment
for activity and social interaction (for mom or dad,

Story Time Events
Ever heard of "Kids & Pets Story Time" at Animart? or
"Jammin with Jeremy" at Barnes & Nobles? Find
recurring story time events that often include a craft or
story-themed activity; or special costumed character
events.  

Library Activities
Be sure to check out the many wonderful, free, kid-
friendly events throughout the season at your local
library. Activities often include recurring story times,
plus other scheduled crafts, movies & special events.
Nearly every library offers something unique in the
designated children's area, so just hanging out
looking at books or discovering something new can
be a fun, yet peaceful way to spend a cold day!
